Aaron Chess, 21 of Peoria, believes his youth and upbringing will bridge the gap between the Peoria City Council and the community.

The Western Illinois senior grew up on the southside of the city. In an interview with Eugene Daniel, he said he understands the anxiety and lack of trust of police, particularly in low-income communities. However, Chess believes his experience as a Police Explorer offeres him an unique perspective of both side of the coin.

Chess also discusses his approach to crime, in which he mentions his own sister was tragically killed.
